Guangdong province has stepped up its response to a new pandemic outbreak

As China's most populous province Guangdong faces a new resurgence of the COVID-19 epidemic, some cities in the province have begun closing entire neighborhoods or streets and requiring travelers to provide negative proof of nucleic acid tests in an effort to contain the disease's further spread.Guangdong is one of China's most densely populated provinces, a hub for Chinese manufacturing and exports, and the largest economy of any province in the country.Since the outbreak began in late May, Guangzhou has gradually strengthened a series of epidemic control measures.

Since May 21 and June 1, 41 locally confirmed cases have been reported in Guangzhou, while six locally confirmed cases have been reported in neighboring Foshan.

In an effort to control the spread of the disease, the cities of Guangzhou and Foshan have dramatically increased vigilance measures, closing off some neighborhoods or streets and ordering residents to stay at home.Those who must travel long distances by air, train or car must report a negative nucleic acid test within three days.

The resurgence of the epidemic has prompted citizens to rush to get vaccinated.Large numbers of people who had not yet made an appointment to register for vaccination flocked to vaccination sites, causing severe crowds.The city of Guangzhou simply announced that it was suspending registration appointments for individual vaccinations to ensure that certain groups of people were given priority for vaccination and that there were enough medical staff at vaccination sites.     The resurgence of the epidemic has led to an increase in the demand for masks. No matter in public places or outdoors, you must wear masks to protect yourself, and wash and disinfect your hands after going out.
