Masks are used for respiratory protection, effectively blocking the spread of the virus through breathing, and are undoubtedly an essential weapon to win the battle against the epidemic. 

China is the largest producer of masks. In 2019, the total production of masks in China exceeded 5 billion, accounting for more than 55% of the global production capacity, of which 70% were exported. Before the epidemic, China's average daily production of all kinds of masks was about 22 million, among which the production capacity of surgical masks was 2.2 million/day, the production capacity of KN95 masks was about 600,000 / day, and the rest were civil protection masks and industrial dust masks used for a wide range of faces. Demand for masks has surged in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, and even the shift from exports to domestic sales is not enough.

With the development and progress of new materials and technologies, current masks tend to reduce respiratory impedance, reduce cardiopulmonary burden and increase wearing comfort while providing protection. From the perspective of the standard development of masks, it is also the demand and direction to continuously reduce resistance. At the same time, the mask should also pay attention to the dust capacity, which can ensure that the mask still has enough filtration efficiency after a period of use.
